Virginia Roast

Thanks to Acta Diurna and Ben Smith of Politico for this:

Some ill will from the 2008 presidential campaign spilled over into the Virginia Capitol Correspondents Dinner in Richmond last week, where Terry McAuliffe — Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman, now a candidate for governor — poked fun at Joe Trippi, an advisor to John Edwards now serving in the same capacity for his Democratic rival Brian Moran.

Trippi, McAuliffe said, had approached McAuliffe before the race began and offered to work for him, or help him any way he could.

“I said to him, ‘You really want to help me? That’s what you want to do? You want to help m, Joe? Great,” McAuliffe continued.  “Go work for Brian and go do for him what you did for President Dean and President Edwards.”

Moran, in the audience, called out a quick rejoinder: “How’s President Hillary Clinton?”

The exchange starts up about 5:00 in to the video above. The dinner, it’s worth noting, is a roast.

  1. Ha! It looks like Trippi is the whipping boy to more than just Bellamy 115.
